Molecular Medicine Center

Department Introduction

China Medical University Hospital (CMUH) in June 2006 set up the Center for Molecular Medicine and brought in University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Vice President Mien-chie Hung to take charge of the center. With Dr. Hung's rich research knowledge and experience as well as research and development vision, it is expected that the center can keep pace with international biomedical research towards the goal of a world-class medical research center. In 2016,  Shao-chun Wang, the then professor of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in the U.S. state of Ohio was recruited to serve as the center's research fellow and vice director, in an effort to boost the team's synergies and keep up with the international academic level.

The center's research covers two major areas—basic biology and translational medicine. By delving deeply into the molecular mechanism of basic biomedical research, the center promotes the application of basic biotechnology knowledge to clinical medicine research, for the purpose of diagnosing, preventing, and treating cancer-related diseases and improving public health.

In addition to sharing research resources with other research teams at the campus, the center increases the competitiveness of the hospital and actively expands exchanges and collaboration with other universities and research institutes at home and abroad, in an attempt to strive for national and large-scale research projects and cultivate future scientific research leaders, hoping to become a forward-looking research unit and a cultivation center for outstanding talents.
