Our Speciality

1. Section of Outpatient Service Laboratory

Located on the 2nd floor of Lifu Medical Building, this section provides fast and accurate laboratory testing for outpatients and inpatients, including blood collection, routine tests, and specialized hematology, supporting clinical diagnosis and treatment.

2. Section of Emergency Service Laboratory

The Section of Emergency Service Laboratory provides 24/7 laboratory services for the ER, wards, outpatients, and other hospitals. After regular working hours, the team continues to handle critical hospital testing. Staffed with highly skilled and experienced medical technologists and equipped with advanced instruments, the section ensures fast, accurate, and internationally standardized test results. Regular maintenance, professional training, and CAP/ISO certifications support their commitment to excellence.

3. Section of Physiological Examination (EKG)

The Section of Physiological Examination, part of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, operates 24/7 in the emergency department. Staffed with highly skilled and responsive technologists, the team monitors patients in real time, providing critical physiological data to help physicians make rapid, accurate decisions and secure the best treatment opportunities.

4. Section of Microbiology

The Section of Microbiology consists of the Bacteriology and Virology units. Services include bacterial and fungal cultures, blood cultures, tuberculosis testing, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, viral cultures, and rapid antigen detection. In addition to traditional cultures, the section offers rapid molecular and antigen testing, providing same-day pathogen results to support timely diagnosis and treatment.

5. Section of Serology and Immunology

The Section of Serology and Immunology, located at the specimen sorting station, receives and categorizes samples from the emergency, outpatient, and external hospitals. Services include hepatitis testing, HbA1c, HIV screening and confirmation, autoimmune and transplant immunology tests, first-trimester Down syndrome and preeclampsia screening, allergy panels, protein and immunoglobulin electrophoresis, cell markers, synovial fluid analysis, and microbial serology. Quality control is applied before, during, and after testing to ensure accurate and timely results.

6. Section of Precision Diagnosis

Since 2015, the Section of Precision Diagnosis has focused on precision medicine and genome sequencing services. Independent since September 2018, the section now provides comprehensive testing across cancer, rare genetic disorders, prenatal screening, infectious diseases, and disease risk assessment. Key services include prenatal diagnostics, hereditary and cancer-related genetic testing, and precision medicine assays. By combining next-generation sequencing data with traditional tests and long-term patient information—such as lifestyle and environmental factors—the group supports accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment decisions.

7. Section of Bioinformatics

Since the Human Genome Project, bioinformatics has become essential for analyzing large-scale genomic data. The Section of Bioinformatics processes NGS data for cancer genomes, pharmacogenomics, and microbiome profiling, turning complex data into clinical insights for the laboratory.

8. Section of Blood Bank

The Section of Blood Bank, under the Department of Laboratory Medicine, operates according to ISO 15189 and CAP transfusion standards, and is accredited by both TAF and CAP. Located on the B1 floors of the First Medical Building and the Critical Care Building, the bank is staffed with 13 technologists and three physicians, providing 24/7 transfusion services. Monthly, it supplies around 30,000 units of blood, including specialized products for pediatrics, immunocompromised patients, and irradiated or leukocyte-reduced components. Services also include blood typing, antibody screening, crossmatching, autologous donation, and transfusion reaction investigations. Since September 2020, all red blood cells are leukocyte-reduced pre-storage to enhance patient safety.

9. Section of Quality Assurance, Education and Administration

Established in 2001 and renamed the Quality & Administration Group in 2012, the team ensures that all laboratory units comply with ISO 15189, CAP-LAP, and national accreditation standards. It oversees quality management, supports administrative operations, and manages specimen logistics across the department.

10.Section of Metabolomics and Trace Elements

The Section of Metabolomics and Trace Elements, under the Division of Innovation, Research and Development of Laboratory Medicine, uses mass spectrometry to develop metabolomics and trace element analyses, providing broader clinical testing services.

11. Section of Industry-academia Research and Development

The Section of Industry-academia Research and Development, part of the Division of Innovation, Research and Development, designs and consults on clinical research projects for laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) and collaborates with the university’s Medical Technology Department on academic activities and publications.
